Fitting Instructions for your Deluxe Cat Flap:
Fitting of your Cat Flap is a simple job for anyone competent at DIY. If you are in any doubt, consult a qualified tradesman. To ensure the best possible fit, please take the time to read these instructions carefully and do not rush the fitting.
Contents: Template, Fitting Instructions, Tunnel Liner with switch fitted, Main Flap assembly, Key bolt, 8 screws, 8 blanking plugs.
Tools required: Pencil, Rule or Tape measure, Bradal or other sharp point, No.2 Cross head screwdriver, Drill and drill bits (1 5mm &
10mm), Jigsaw with blade to suit the door/panel material.
Step by Step:
1. Position the template
Position the template on the inside face of the door in the required position, this should ideally be 100mm (4) up from the base of the door and at least 50mm in from the nearest edge and on a flat area of the door. Ensure that the centre line on the template is vertical with a spirit level or plumb bob.
2. Mark the holes
Using an awl or other sharp point, mark the centre of all of the holes through the template into the door.
3. Drill the holes
Remove the template and using a 10mm (3/8) drill bit, drill the 8 inner holes marked b and the lower c hole on the template drilling completely through the door. In hardwood doors carefully drill 4 holes (e) using a 1 5mm (1/16) drill Ensure that you follow all of the safety instructions supplied with any tool and that there is no risk of injury or damage to anyone or thing which may be on the other side of the door.
4. To cut the aperture
Draw a line between the edge of the 10mm holes as shown on the template, then, using a Jig saw cut between the 10mm holes as indicated on the template. It is better to cut the hole slightly small and then fine-tune the opening.
5. To trim the Liner (if necessary)
Fit the liner by hand and draw around it using a pencil, your cut line should be 2mm lower than this line. Make two small cuts down to your cut line just before the start of each of the large curves (see fig 1).
Cut away the top section of the liner down to your two small cut marks (see figl), then turn the liner upside down and carefully cut away the bottom section. Now the two sides can be trimmed.
6. Fit the flap assembly
Check that the Cat Flap is in the fully locked position, From the outside of the door, offer the flap assembly into the cut-out. The screw holes should align with the 1.5mm Small Cut holes you have already drilled. Take care not to over tighten the screws Do not use a power screwdriver. In panels thinner than 6mm it may be easier to glue the cat flap to the door.
7. Fit the Key Bolt
From inside, gently insert the key bolt through the bottom 10mm hole into the flap assembly. Trim the key as follows:
| Door Thickness at cutout(D) |
10 |

On the liner, turn the knob so that it is in the locked position. Offer the Liner into the cut-out ensuring that the key bolt aligns with the knob. The screw holes should align with your bradal, again, take care not to over tighten the screws Do not use a power screwdriver
8. Check it works
Rotate the knob through each of the four positions checking that the lock correctly rotates.
9. Fit the blanking plugs
Once you have checked that your cat flap is working correctly, fit the blanking plugs by gently pushing them into each of the screw holes.
10. Sealing
Whilst your cat flap has water drain points, if the panel into which the cat flap has been fitted has some distortion or is in an exposed position, we recommend that you seal around the outside edge of the exterior frame using a flexible sealant (such as silicon or mastic) for extra protection. Take care not to seal over the drain hole at the base.
